We all have our fair share of bad days, the ones when we’re just not feeling our best. Whether you didn’t get enough sleep the night before, are feeling a little stressed out or simply feel down, remember that you can always find a way to turn it all around. Bad moods happen, but it’s fair to take care of yourself, pay attention to your feelings and try to pick yourself up.
Listening to good music, having a walk outside, meditating or meeting friends are some of the classic mood boosters that work for just about anyone. I personally love all of these (including writing and cuddling with my pets), but I also absolutely enjoy my beauty routine. Pampering myself with facial treatments, bubble baths and homemade scrubs instantly boosts up my mood every single time, so whenever I feel a bit blue, I just pick up my spa kit or makeup brushes and turn off the outside world for a couple of minutes. Seriously, who doesn’t like being all dolled up? It makes me feel good in my skin, builds up my self-confidence & self-love and helps me keep up a positive attitude.
So if you’re having a bad day, take some time to practice self-care and give these beauty treatments a chance.
Have a bubble bath
Top of the list! Warm bubble baths are probably the most relaxing treat you can have at home. Pick up your favorite product or have fun with a fizzy bath bomb. Add a few drops of a calming essential oil like lavender to your bath, lie back and take some time to clear your mind. You’re just 20 minutes away from refreshed body and mind!
Scrub away the negativity
Sometimes scrubbing away my dead skin cells feels like I’m actually removing my negativity. It is proven that being physically clean and staying in a tidy place is close related to being able to clear your mind of negative thoughts. On top of that, the feeling of soft, smooth skin after a full body scrub is just so good! So pick up a good body scrub like this one or create a simple one in your kitchen and get to scrubbing. You can also do it using your regular shower gel and a loofah, bath gloves or an exfoliating body brush. I promise, your skin will feel renewed and it will bring a smile to your face!
Brighten up your nails
Bright colors create positive vibes and surely fight off the darkness. Add a pop of color to your manicure and try out bright shades that you don’t usually wear. Neons and pastels are super cute and there are tons of looks you can choose from.
Experimenting with polishes alone is so much fun, but you can also treat yourself at a beauty salon and get a professional manicure done. Either way, having pretty nails is always good and just looking at your fresh manicure can lift your spirits. It sure does work for me!
Smell an uplifting fragrance
A nice scent is another thing that can instantly boost your mood. Do you know that feeling when a certain scent brings you back to happy times? It happens to me with my favorite perfumes, and whenever I’m moody I spray on some YSL on my skin. Smelling amazing feels just so good! I also use a homemade lavender scented pillow mist or turn on my home diffuser to loosen up and relax.
So whenever you’re feeling a bit down remember to spray on that scent that always brings a smile on your face!
Try out a new makeup look
I’m a huge makeup lover, so this is definitely my favorite way of snapping out of a bad mood. Just playing with my new makeup and swatching palettes brings me so much joy. I can literally do it for hours and not be distracted by any bad thoughts. Guess it’s my way of escaping reality, my equivalent to meditation.
I know you get this if you’re makeup obsessed like me, and if you’re not, I suggest you try it out! Try out a new look, add some bold shades and glitter, a crazy lipstick color, a pair of nice lashes. Just have a fun, relaxing break by experimenting with makeup. You’ll be amazed by the results and the endless possibilities of transforming your look.
Above all, it’s not all about looks, it’s about your feelings. Never forget to make time for yourself, take care of yourself and love yourself. Smile, laugh and shake off the negativity by doing the things you enjoy the most!
