DIY: Homemade anti – acne spray

If you have acne prone skin, you must know by now that fighting them off is a real struggle.

Fighting acne means working on your skin care regimen day and night. Cleaning your face regularly or just applying anti-acne lotions once a day won’t do it. You have to have a game plan and be persistent. Also, try out new products and constantly look for solutions.

I’ve had issues with acne ever since I started my medication therapy a year ago, and from then on it’s been a never ending battle. As soon as I treat some and my face looks better, another one appears. It’s so frustrating, but I keep on trying to diminish their appearance.

Anyways, I’ve been testing out natural ingredients and for now I can swear by some, like turmeric powder, egg whites, argan oil, etc. Recently I’ve been trying out natural oils and experiment by mixing them up. I’ve come up with a mixture of 3 natural oils, and decided to store it in a spray bottle, for easier application and long lasting effect. I’ve been using this mixture for two weeks now and I can see some nice results! So, I thought that it would be cool to share it with you guys.

You will need:

Let’s start!

Fill up your empty bottle with ¼ cup of water (60ml).

Add 5 drops of each oil.

Shake and you’re done!

I chose a spray bottle because I use this oils mixture right before I go to sleep. By spraying it on my face, they’ll have the time to set in and work through the night. Also, I needed a spray to treat my backne, a simple solution for harder to reach areas. I just spray it on my back and shoulders after I shower and let it set and treat all the breakouts. However, you can use it as a regular tonic and apply it on a cotton pad, then swipe over your problem areas.

Optional: decorate! Use a sticker or draw a sign on your bottle.

Why are these ingredients good for your skin?

Tea tree oil controls oil production, and has antiseptic and antifungal properties that help heal scarring and acne.

Jojoba oil has anti-inflammatory properties which help soothe breakouts and skin irritation.

Lavender oil has antimicrobial and antioxidant characteristics, which nourish and heal the skin.

Why did I choose these 3 oils?

The tea tree oil is quite powerful and if applied directly onto the skin, it can dry it out and cause an opposite effect – promote more oil production and more acne. On the other hand, jojoba and lavender oil are gentle, mild and nourishing oils. I got the perfect balance by mixing these up with tea tree oil and diluting them with water. That’s what makes this spray good for all skin types.
