DIY Homemade Makeup Remover Pads

If you read some of my posts I’m sure you already know that I always look for natural alternatives to beauty products.

Lately I’ve been removing my makeup with coconut oil and (out of laziness!) I wanted to simplify the whole process by making some homemade makeup remover pads that would be ready for use and stand right on my bedside table.

I found some ideas online and put together this recipe that works just great for me.

Let’s have a look!

For making your own homemade makeup remover pads, you will need:

*I used a small jar that holds up to 1 ½ cup of water, if you have a larger one just adjust the amount of ingredients accordingly.

Add water in the empty bowl and mix together the oils and shampoo. Pour the mixture into the jar just to cover up the bottom.

Add about 10 pads and let them soak in the liquid. Pour some more mixture and keep adding the pads. When you reach the top, place the lid and shake up the jar to make sure the pads absorb everything.

Why I chose these ingredients:

Coconut oil is naturally antibacterial and antifungal, works as a great skin moisturizer and cleanser, prevents premature aging and softens the skin.

Olive oil contains anti-aging antioxidants, moisturizes and softens the skin.

The tear-free baby wash will help remove your mascara and eye makeup without irritating your eyes. Other recipes contain Castile soap, but I chose to use baby shampoo because my eyes are sensitive and get irritated and itchy from soaps or makeup removing products.

How to use:

Take one pad from your jar and squeeze excess liquid. Wipe gently over your eyelids and face, pick another one if needed and wipe until makeup is removed.

  1. I love using coconut oil for skin and hair! I have tried removing makeup using only coconut oil and it removes all the makeup. I like other ingredients that you are using for this. I am going to try this! 🙂

    1. Yes it does a great job! I wanted to add olive oil because of it’s anti ageing properties 🙂 And the baby wash helps to remove my eye makeup entirely!

    1. Depends on the mascara, the waterproof ones are always harder to remove. Right now I use the Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara and it comes off well with these 🙂

  2. This post is really interesting, but why it is on 13th place
in google’s search results. It deserves to be in top 5.
Many webmasters think that seo is dead in 2016, but it’s not true.
There is sneaky method to reach google’s top 5 that not many people know.

    1. Hey Nallely, don’t be scared 🙂 it won’t add more oiliness to your skin. I have combination skin that tends to get oily during the summer and have no issues with coconut oil 🙂
