Including healthy habits in your lifestyle improves not only your health, but your looks too. A good diet will enhance your natural beauty by perfecting your skin, nails and hair.

Besides some basic hair products, the hair strands need some key nutrients.

These are the foods I’ve been consuming for strong, healthy hair and faster growth.

 

  1. Eggs!

Eggs are rich in protein, which places them right at the top of this list. Protein is the most important compound your hair needs. It speeds up the hair growth, strengthens the strands, and prevents hair loss. Eggs also contain amounts of biotin and other B vitamins which improve the hair cells. Other vitamins contained in eggs such as A, E and D are great for the hair: prevent the drying of the scalp, reduce dandruff and protect from UV rays.

Vitamin B-12 is great for scalp nourishment, causing healthier roots. Iron deficiency can cause excessive hair loss, so don’t forget to add this mineral to your diet!

  1. Fruits & veggies

Fruits and vegetables deliver some amazing health and beauty benefits.

The green veggies (spinach, kale, broccoli, lettuce) contain vitamins A and C which work great for hair growth and shine.

Kiwi, mango, tomatoes, berries and citrus fruits like oranges and grapefruits are a great source of vitamin C. Vitamin C helps build collagen, which is crucial for hair growth, and also promotes hair strength.

Bananas are my favorite fruit, containing vitamin B6, potassium, magnesium and vitamin C. It’s also a great hair moisturizer when applied topically.

  1. Nuts

Nuts contain protein, magnesium, vitamin B6 and iron- they’re the best solution for dull, damaged hair. You can choose any type you like: almonds, peanuts, pistachios, walnuts, etc. Nuts promote shine, strength, and boost up volume. I add them to my diet as a delicious healthy snack.

  1. Legumes

Legumes (peas, beans, lentils) are a good source of protein, iron, zinc, potassium and B vitamins. Red beans, peas, green lentils, chickpeas- choose any type to include in your diet. These foods are great for vegans, as a replacement for the animal products proteins.
