The POREfessional face primer by Benefit Cosmetics is my November favorite. I’ve been seeing some positive reviews but haven’t tried it out until a few weeks ago, and here I am now, absolutely in love with it. It might not be the newest product out there but I feel like it definitely needs to be recognized and recommended. So let’s start!
First of all, I want to give a huge shout-out to my dad for getting me this primer. He supports my makeup obsession and most of the high end makeup you see on my blog is gifted by him. I like how he’s always careful about choosing the right shades and products that would fit my skin type. So yay for dad!
Anyways, back to the product. Here’s what Benefit say about it:
Quickly minimize the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin! Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. The translucent formula contains a vitamin E derivative known to protect skin from free radicals.
• Complements all skin tones
• Helps makeup stay put
To use under makeup:
Apply to moisturized skin to help makeup stay put. Focus on problem areas & blend with fingertips.
To use over makeup:
Pat on lightly over makeup & blend.
To use on body:
Blend on legs, bottom and tummy to minimize the appearance of flaws…so skin looks smooth & even.
It costs 31$ and you get 22.0 mL / 0.75 US fl. oz. of product.
Over to my thoughts…
I’ve been using this primer for three weeks and now I can’t imagine applying my makeup without it. Seriously, I haven’t skipped a day, so I recommend it for everyday use.
So far I’ve used it under my foundation just because I never felt like I needed touch ups. As for the body tip, no, I don’t need to waste this precious balm on my legs, I’m totally saving it for my face!
The formula is just amazing – light and silky, with a nice floral fragrance to it. I love how it feels on my face and makes my skin so soft and smooth. I have combination skin and so far I haven’t experienced any breakouts or oiliness while using this.
It’s very easy to blend and a little goes a long way: I apply just a bit to cover my whole face and add a little more to my problem areas. I have large pores on my cheeks and nose and this balm doesn’t make them go away, but it definitely minimizes their appearance. I don’t need to wait for it to set cause it’s so quickly absorbed in my skin.
As for the priming part – it’s just perfect! My makeup lasts forever (well, I usually have makeup on for 8-10 hours a day). I love how it makes my makeup look so much better. Even my drugstore foundations look amazing and last so long applied over this balm. I believe I could work with any type of makeup once I get the smoothness from this primer.
So it is pricey, but I think it’s a great investment because you can apply cheaper makeup products over it and build up a great makeup look.
The packaging is really good: a small tube that comes in a little cardboard box. The tube is light and fits in my hand so it’s good for carrying around in my makeup bag.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I adore Benefits’ retro style. I’m a huge fan of the artwork, fonts, colors and the whole design of their products, they fit my taste just perfectly.
The product does have a color to it, but once it’s blended the shade becomes translucent.
Overall, the POREfessional face primer:
• Minimizes the appearance of pores
• Makes my skin smooth & soft
• Blends easily
• Sets in quickly
• Makes my makeup look better
• Gives an airbrush finish to my makeup
• Makes my foundation last longer
• Works for all skin types
• Works for all skin tones (it’s translucent)
• Controls shine
• Holds makeup in place
• A little goes a long way: I think it will take me a while before I waste it.
The only con I could think of is the price: it’s a bit expensive for my budget. However, it’s a fair price considering the high quality it offers. If you feel like trying it out, grab yours here!
Would I buy it again? Absolutely! I really hope future me will be able to afford it 🙂 .
